Las Vegas Photographer A M Johnson
Gallery FAQ
Q. How do you quit the slide show or popup picture display?
A. Depending on your web browser and operating system, you might click the picture (or double click), right click then select close, hit escape or click the ‘Show Thumbnails’ link.
Q. Why do the photos look out of focus when enlarged?
A. The photos are relatively small. When they are blown up, they get pixelated and to the human eye appear out of focus. In real life, the originals are sharp to at least 30×60 inches. Many of these have been made into prints at this size and look spectacular on the wall.
Q. Are all of these pictures yours?
A. Yes, I took all of the pictures and I also did all of the photo shop work unless otherwise noted.
Q. Are these digital or film?
A. Both. I shoot mostly film but do shoot digital some too.
Q. Are these all of them?
A. No, I have thousands of pictures and thousands of archived negatives.
Q. Why did you pick these?
A. I either liked the model, liked the pose or emotion or went eenie-meenie-miney-moe.
Q. Why are the pictures so small? (Why are they this size?)
A. For several reasons. One is for server load, another is so they fit in the Wordpress theme I’m using. The reason the gallery pages are here is to showcase my work. You can tell if you like my work or not at this size so the size serves the purpose. My printed portfolio that I carry with me to show clients is 11×14.
Q. Can these pictures be viewed on any computer?
A. Yes. The gallery thumbnails and pictures are viewable on any phone, pad, tablet or system that can view a web page. Additionally, there is a flash slide show that can be viewed if you have a flash enabled device or computer. I could have used Thickbox and made it a little prettier but then it would be all flash and that would limit how many people could view the pictures.
Q. Why do you have porn on your site?
A. I don’t have porn on my site. Porn is sexual activity of some kind. Art nudes is not porn. I don’t do porn.
Q. OK then, why do you have nudes on your site?
A. Because the human body is beautiful. I find as much pleasure in looking at a sunset as I do a pretty woman. Beauty is beauty.
Q. What is EXIF data?
A. Data that is stored in image files like shutter speed, date, time, focal length, exposure compensation, metering pattern and if a flash was used. Additionally, graphics applications like photo shop can add copyright information and other metadata.
Q. Can I copy the images here?
A. I would prefer if you didn’t but I can’t stop you. I am not giving you permission, I just can’t stop you.
Q. Can I put your images on my web site?
A. No. You do not have fair use. If I find one on your web site, I can issue a DMCA takedown notice. Your web host might take the picture down and your site with it.
Q. Why do you have that lousy copyright notice in the middle of the picture?
A. Because you are going to copy the picture even though I asked you not to. I would like you to remember where it came from.
A. Because you might claim it as your own.
Q. Can I remove the copyright notice from the picture?
A. You might have the technical expertise, but it’s illegal to do so. I advise against it.
Q. Can I buy the picture?
A. Yes. You can buy a print from the store when it goes live or buy the digital version.
Q. Are versions of the picture that are sold going to have that copyright notice on them?
A. No.
